I do REALLY appreciate the input. I'll definitely look into the Taurus class action settlement and see what was going on - good news was that both my Taurus guns were gifts so I'm not really out much money on them - when I stripped and cleaned both of them recently all the actions seemed smooth and haven't had issues with either of them yet, so I'm hoping I got a pair of good guns.

EDIT: Looked up the class action, does not affect the 1911's or the revolvers as far as I can tell.

Good call on the Rock Island, I probably will consider them if I get another 1911, and yes, I'll probably get another .45ACP - easier for me to get another .45 when I already have one and can just buy bulk ammunition for 2 guns.
