While, I agree with you to a point. Most people aren't familiar with BMW's, let alone the e53 before they purchase one. It's going to be bought either, by some young kid who doesn't know any better, or possibly an enthusiast from another platform who isn't familiar with the e53. An e53 enthusiast wouldn't touch that for >$5000.
IF it runs well and checks out motor and suspension wise that is.
On the other hand, anyone looking to purchase an older niche vehicle should do their due diligence and perform at least a modicum of research and background checks. So I guess I can see both sides of the coin... doesn't make me want to punch whoever cobbled that thing together (and the seller for misrepresenting the mileage) square in the jaw any less.
