Ditto...I go no problem pairing my Samsung Note 4 back in 2014 to my X with a 12/2005 build date.
I turned the ignition to KL R (ignition position 1), then went into BT settings on the Note 4...and
BMW24133 was listed (24133 is the last 5 digits of my X5's VIN). I selected my BMW...& was then prompted to enter my PK code (found in my BT paperwork).
My Note showed it had paired with b the X...I then turned the ignition off and waited the prerequisite 30 seconds. It took a few drives for all my contacts to load...but could make & receive calls using the "talk" button on the steering wheel (not the R/T button).
I was also able to program some VC (voice commands) where you can press the "talk" button & speak a name and the X will call that number.
