I have had some bad fuses look good before maybe just try replacing the fuses just in case.

Also I don't have a X5 but an e46 instead and I did a OEM footwell lighting retrofit. If the wiring is anything similar in one way or another the interior lights to directly to the fuse panel there is a comb connector that should house all the + lines for each interior light IE: Dome Light, Footwell Lights and Pillar Lights

The Red/Blue wire was my Positive line for Interior Lightning notice all the other Red/Blue wires for my 2000 323i. I know youdidn't request for all this info and it might not even relate to you guys/gals X's but just food for thought.

BMW usually uses Brown for Ground BTW

I would change the fuses out first just in case.
