From the Dubai Ports Authority home page:

Dubai, 24 January 2006: - Global ports operator DP World today welcomed news that one of its senior executives, Dave Sanborn, has been nominated by US President George W. Bush to serve as Maritime Administrator a key transportation appointment reporting directly to Norman Mineta the Secretary of Transportation and Cabinet Member.

More going on then just what you hear in the news....
Dave Sanborn isn't just the guy who was handpicked by President Bush as his nominee for the Administrator of the Maritime Administration. Sanborn was hired by and worked for Dubai Ports in 2005. That one year with Dubai Ports was all he needed to broker the Dubai Ports deal to purchase CSX. Now, when you dig into who made money off of that deal, you'll find the same group of names that always seem to pop up...James Baker, John Snow, George HW Bush, etc. Guys like James Baker work both sides of the fence all of the time...represent Bush in 2000 over the Florida recounts...represent the Saudi royal family in the suit brought by the families of the victims of 911.
It's all about money and power, regardless if it is *good* for America.
