The Pemtium D 800 and 900 series are solid chips. You could also go the AMd route with their X2 series. Those things have an onboard memory controllers. That allows them to keep up with the Intel offerings despite still using only DDR1 memory.

She's a Mac person and is pretty much committed to it. That's what works best in her world and the standard in the design world. It's going to be a Mac but I'm a PC guy so....

My Intel P4 3.0 (800) is still running great.
