My thoughts are you are the man! I'm so impressed with your willingness to tear things apart and figure out everything about them.
Good work on balancing the piston/rod combos. Nice work. I probably would have filed off some metal from the piston, screwing something else up. Sometimes the most simple solution is also the most elegant (what you did, not what I would have done!).
