I definitely agree with that. PDC is not and should not be a replacement for actually looking before and during backup. I'm sure many people rely on it out of habit and laziness. I use it almost purely for parallel parking and getting in and out of tight spots. I also think it's helpful in situations where you do look behind you but an object is below your line of sight. The reason I retrofitted the PDC kit was partly because I wanted to do the project and partly because I had a situation where I did look behind me before I backed up but some a-hole had put a low parking barricade behind me and I did not see it the way I approached the vehicle.
