2003 X5 AC Compressor wont engage - good detail so far, but stuck

Hi,

so was out and about on my last day of vacation (thank god) and got back into the car, after a 15 minute stop at a candy shop, some odd things happened. I took the window lock off and the kids in the back put the windows, up/down a few times... I then put it back on (locked it), but they were still able to open/close the windows... this was very odd. I was like uh oh... That issues seems to have gone away and not returned after a I shut the car off/on again.

But at the same time, the AC stopped blowing cold when we got into the car after that 15 minute stop. I don't know if the two issues are connected.

AC was running great earlier in the day. I've checked all fuses and all are ok, in both the trunk and in the glove box. The aux fan spins up when the car runs hot (low speed spin) and when I pull the hi pressure switch plug (hi speed spin).

I pulled out the IHKA module from the dash and got a reading of 4.8v AC, I thought it read 12.8v AC at one point, but could not get it to do that again.

So now I am stuck. I would like to test the AC compressor clutch by applying 12v to it, but am unsure how to do it, does the car need to be on (probably if I want to see it engage/spin). I also could not figure out how to unplug the single lead going into the compressor, does it just pull out (it's pretty tight).

Ambient temp sensor is working fine with normal temp readings.

I get high pressure readings on the low side when I hook up a gauge, this seems normal since the compressor is not running.

thanks for the help.
