intake resonators do more than just reducing engine noise, actually that's more or less a byproduct. they're designed to make the engine run more efficiently by (ideally) eliminating pressure wave harmonics and, thus, improving air flow into the engine.

Someone always brings this up in any intake resonator delete thread. While it's rooted in fact, the effect is negligible. I haven't noticed any changes in "efficiency". And I would disagree with your assertion that it is the sound of an engine "not running right." To each their own.
