OK. @stevep and others who have issues with the ETA function.
I took several long trips today - to known destinations, and used the Route Guidance mode. I can say that the ETA function worked perfectly for me on all the trips.
I can confirm that I initially used the T26.09A bete release, and have loaded several of the intermediate releases up to and including ambishop's 3d Final release.
As a quick overview of the new software, I find the 3D mode to be a real bonus as it allows you to see MUCH further ahead than the standard 2D plan mode - so it's really not JUST a nice cosmetic upgrade - it really does have a use. However, the 3D mode in 'Point North' seems a bit pointless as you loose the 'up to the horizon' distance view (depending on which way the car is pointing).
What I really do like are the niceties of the 3D imaging. Like the 'things' in the distance appearing much smaller and slightly 'in the mist'. Take a major highway road label - when it 1st appears on the horizon, its slightly indistinct and small, and as you 'get nearer' to it, it becomes clearer and gets bigger as it passes 'under' the vehicle ring and then off below. REALLY cool.
I also like the way the clouds change and move across the screen as you change direction.
The ONLY thing that would improve it aesthetically, is if the sky would darken when it is night (perhaps with stars/moon in leiu of the clouds)!! Now, that WOULD be cool.
The Nav ran flawlessly for several hours throughout the journey - no freezes, reboots or anything. The mapping seemed to keep up with the car's movement & turns in the same way that the 2D mode does.
OK - no street names, but then I don't think it would be too good with all the clutter. Your current location at street level is in the RH pane of the split anyhow.
All in all, the best update for the Nav so far. So many thanks to Martin (ambishop), UCrewX5 and 2Wires for all the effort put into making this workable and available.
Mark.
PS. Sorry for rambling
