I paid someone about 1K with parts to do this job. He was a certified tech. Job went well since my X5 is from the desert, and everything rust free. He highly recommended doing the front crank seal while everything below was apart since they are known to leak and special tools are required.

My parts cost was around $240 with all the self locking nuts, bolts, carrier, oil pan seal, and crankshaft seal, wholesale pricing. The carrier assy. was the most expensive part, but it comes as one unit. I'm happy it's all done. The oil puddles were driving me nuts.
