Thank you wpoll for bringing to our attention this possible reason for the LCM failure; as I'm going to try and put in another (used) LCM for the OP, and I'm now thinking that a tail light arcing is more likely to be the cause of the failure, or at least that should be corrected before putting in another LCM; cheers
