I helped investigate an accident similar to that involving a 3.5L Rover SDI. (Back in the UK.) We thought at first it had had a booby trap bomb put under the vehicle. Both occupants walked away. The 3 main parts of the vehicle were strewn over a 350 yead path from the point of impact. It hit a light pole at an estimated speed of 140 mph.
