Probably could have had the pump rebuilt there too, but didn't know that when the dealer was doing what they do. They still aren't happy with our plan, and it's been 7 weeks since she blew up, so very long term. Only a week of that is my fault, with injector shipping time.

This is valuable information for the community, so thank you for bird dogging all this- and posting.
It is gratifying to hear that there may be less "BMW Pixie Dust" than we are always led to believe....
(Hopefully I will never need to, but if I do expect a few PMs for names and numbers of contacts and shops up in your neck of the woods that might be a lead to the same level of skills in the Sacto/Norcal region.)
Finally, being a BMW master tech is a pretty decent job- makes you ask the question: is there something about the shop that your dealer runs to lose that talent? As with every business in this country, there are good employers and bad.... a friend is a master tech and some of the stories he tells...
