The E39 I've had for 16 years was what started me on the boards. I've been driving it daily these last couple of weeks while we shoehorn the big brakes onto the E53. The Sport seats were standard in any E39 with sport package. The comforts were a $500 option. Like yours does now, my '00 540 has sport and premium with sport seats. I also prefer the sport seats in both the E39 and E53.
It does make sense the dealer or individual who ordered would have the option of comfort or sport- appearing then as if both were an option. It looks like *both* weren't so much the option as *either* was an option.
