I've changed both driver and passenger side with aftermarket (ebay) carriers. I initially changed the driver and although it worked fine, there was a significant gap between the locking part and the handle. If you have OCD, you won't survive at the gap different... but it was too late for me since it was already in and worked fine. The passenger side was perfect fit, it worked flawlessly. Had aftermarket on the car for over 2 years before i sold it. As someone said earlier, for a 10+ year old car, i would do the aftermarket on door carrier and keep oem on critical parts.
