Well I don't want to kick a gift horse in the mouth, but I am debating trying a different driver in the dash midrange location - the Memphis fits the part for about 96% of it, I probably should just oval out the mounting holes a bit, as they are a wee bit wider than the factory driver it replaced, I'd say by 2-3mm. See the pic below showing about 67mm mounting holes.
I'm unsure about how many watts RMS these drivers are continuously getting from the factory but the 15w RMS seems good - I took a gander through all the speakers in the 1.75" - 2.5" (since you really have to check the specification charts) category for midranges, and happy to report the Vifa ones are still the best fit for the rear door. However, thinking maybe I can take one of these square midranges and with a bit of dremeling on the plastic surround, make the mount look like the "oval-esque" Memphis Audio unit - They are a touch more sensitive at 87db, but only taking 10w RMS and 20W max so maybe this would not be a good driver as it would get maxed out quickly? I should just stick with my Memphis units and just get another set for $35 which I can trim a bit more neatly, oval out the mounting holes and leave the wire leads on so I can really tuck the capacitor down into the dash so it doesn't drive me crazy LOL - my indesiciveness drives me crazy so I really should just drop the remaining $350 today on the speakers I need to complete this -
