It's still not clear what set-up you have....the old ULF or the newer TCU bluetooth module. Nor if you have onBoard nav screen or the MID & in-dash CD set-up

You mentioned in the other thread that you were pressing a button inside the console...or was it the steering wheel? Neither is required if you have the newer BT TCU unit that was installed after the 10/04 build date...and you don't have a physical old phone & phone cradle in your center console.

But here in the states...if your build date is after 10/04...you don't need to press any buttons on the steering wheel or in the console to set-up BT connection because we have the newer TCU that automatically makes itself visible for the 1st 2 minutes after turning the ignition to KL R (ignition position 1).

The instructions for my 2005 X5 4.4 was to:
  1. turn ignition to KL R (position 1) or KL 15 (position 2) which makes the X5 "visible"
  2. open your phone's settings to where you can search for BT devices (again, on your phone)...and if you do this during the 1st 2 minutes of step 1...you should see your BMW listed. It should appear as BMW XXXXX (where the Xs = the last 5 digits of your VIN).
  3. Select your BMW on your iPhone then proceed to enter the PK code from your X5's BT module.
  4. Turn the ignition OFF. When you turn it back on, your phone and X should be paired.
