Another interesting thing I did for the E46 was to reuse the OE tweeter mounts. Once I removed the speaker guard on the front of the OE mount, the JL tweeter just slides right in.

I looked at dropping the JL C2 tweeter into factory tweeter housing but the housing was just a smidge too small from what I tried.
