UPDATE 4-13-2017:

The error came again while I was going on a short trip, I pulled over, restarted the car-error cleared and drove off. However, the transmission malfunction came right back after 1 min. This time, the Gear Selector Malfunction appeared which wouldnt clear, gear lever was dead. Car had to be towed back to the Service center...Unreal..

Tried to fix: Changed gear selector unit, changed transmission oil and all respective seals, the adaptations were also reset. All work was performed by bmw professionals.


Today: After 250 km since the service of no error messages, the error appeared again.
It only appears after driving a considerate amount of time (1-2hours straight) and while going at steady speed. All 4 times that this error popped up, the same conditions were present.

THOUGHTS: Could it be that the transmission temp gets too high? I have noticed lately that my coolant levels decrease dramatically but there is no oil in the tank, and the engine does not overheat. Just a thought.

I seriously dont know what to do. The guys at the service center said that the old oil had a lot of contaminants inside. Only 45k Miles on the car.. Unreal
