Thing is, I can't get access to the data since i do not own an ODB reading device. Is there any other way I can get the data? I would buy one , but it might be a bit hard to find the appropriate device in my location..

In your opinion, is it just the solenoids that are affected the most and need to be changed? BMW just quoted me 4k for a rebuilt transmission from ZF ...

Not sure how I feel about that. The trans is very smooth, although since the oil change I have noticed a longer "hang-on" time when the car goes through gears. Especially when "hot" (more than 50 mins of driving)

my problem in a few words is this: Casual driving, no issues whatsoever, but after 40-50 min of a very steady (highway) drive (approx 60mph, 5th or 6th engaged), then *boom, transmission malfunction out of the blue and I have to pull over. This never happens in short drives.
