Replaced the valve stem seals in my 2005 X5 with an N62.
What a pain in the arse that job was but truck is now smoke free!
Reset DME (engine computer) adaptions as I put in new spark plugs (NGK BKR6EGP #7092) due to previous ones being oil fouled from the valve stem seals and causing misfires.
Transmission shifts when engine was cold were clunky even after fluid and filter replacement so I reset the adaptions today using the BMW Rheingold software with an eBay K+DCAN adapter (had to short terminals 7-8 for the 2 k-line buses) and now shifts like new; smooth and silky.
Replaced the transfer case oil awhile ago but never got around to resetting its adaptions due to group consensus saying I needed to use the ancient BMW DIS/GT1 service software but I dug around Rheingold today and found the ability to reset the VTG adaptions.
Truck feels like new now!
