Yes, will need to top off both tanks to clear message in my experience. Sam's Club DEF is just is good as stealership DEF. $12 for 2.5 gallons.
I did buy one liter at the dealership just to get the screw on bottle. I now use that as my funnel.
I have kept my diesel stock and have been extremely happy with it. Even got over 30 MPG once going from NM to NV.
The torque is awesome going over mountain passes while towing a trailer.
