"upallnight" is correct, do NOT trust what the repair manual says.
My experience with Denso is: the new AC Comnpressor can carry any amount of oil, not necessarily the correct amount.
I replaced my E39 1998 528i AC Compressor (it is a Denso).
The E53 X5 is probably very similar.
