No charging issues, but the eccentric shaft sensor was bad. Not just oiled up, but failed 4 function checks. Breathtaking cost for what looks like a pretty simple electromechanical component. I told him to go ahead and he also replaced the plugs at 95K, which I was going to do anyway. Wallet $1500 lighter.
Ugh. I was afraid of this. I'll try a lot of repairs if it's sitting in my garage, but to have it hundreds of miles away really stinks. And my son is deep into a masters program at LECOM and really can't be messing with the X5. He was driving a Pontiac Torrent through most of undergrad and we now have it at home - he wants it back!
