I would definitely agree with this. I installed audio for 7 or 8 years and I still have the factory head unit in there because of the DSP. I want the android capabilities badly enough now though that I am doing away with DSP altogether and going to do my own amplification/tuning instead. Much more work and expense... but I was afraid of the exact situation you're in redliner.

Wish I could help you out but my equipment installation knowledge falls short of DSP integration. I always advised clients with it to replace everything if they wanted me to do the work because of that. I could guarantee my work and a good sounding system that way...
