I have soft close doors which close more similarly to the rear hatch on the Infiniti you showed but my rear hatch is more abrupt, just like your X5. I don’t mind it and I do like the speed with which it closes. Can’t help you with the “trunk open” warning, though.

OK thank you for verifying. My buddy looked at it and said that my tailgate closes too abruptly to be normal. He said, the tailgate usually slowly goes down, and then has small movement when it shuts, like the Infiniti does.
Also, on the Infiniti, if you have an object in place when the tailgate is closing, it opens up. On the X5, it will take off your arm if you put it in the way of the tailgate closing. BMW doesn't have anti-pinch feature in the tailgate? Is this a safety issue?
