CCV and hydraulic locked engine
About 5 days ago I was driving my 2003 X5 E53 home from the airport after it sat out for a week at extremely cold temperatures.
On the highway it lost power and completely died. Wouldn't turn over at all. I had it towed to a shop to find out a few days later that the engine was seized and needed to be replaced.
I had searched my symptoms here and found enough material on a CCV failure to not trust the shop's opinion. I got it towed home and got it started again after vacuuming the oil out of the cylinders with a makeshift shopvac oil separator. It fired up right away but of course is smoking like crazy burning off the oil. Aside from the smoke it's running as smooth as ever!
It seems to have burned off most of the residual oil but I took it out on the highway tonight to test it and I'm getting a lot of smoke and clearly burning oil based on my dipstick.
I have the parts on order but am wondering if anyone knows if I can easily bypass the line that joins the dipstick to avoid the oil being sucked up into the CCV and into the intake?
Any other suggestions to make it drive-able until the parts arrive?
Thanks for the help.
