Mmmm ... well, I always switch on the ignition to Position 1 FIRST - make sure the Nav has booted up OK then insert the update disk.

You say you have a black screen? Did this happen after installing your V26 software? Did the CD pop out on its own or did you have to force it out?

From what I understand, when you put the update in, the 1st action is to boot the nav into a specific update mode - from there, the ONLY thing it will do is load an update from a good CD. If this update fails, the CD seems to get stuck in a boot/read/boot cycle (and you have to pfaf about to get the CD out), and when you DO get the disk out, the Nav is 'dead'.

Switch on the Ignition to position 1, and insert a known good update disk - if all is well, after about 30 seconds or so, you should see the power light flash and shortly after, the update screen should appear. If it doesn't, the Nav could be stuffed.
