I went outside just now to see if I could see the rear springs but I couldn't get an angle that allowed me to see them without getting on the ground and its raining right now.

If I didn't have self leveling what else would come on pump sounding wise just by opening the door? Not arguing at all just wondering if its not a pump for the suspension what else would it be?

Its some kind of electric pump sound.
