I'm almost positive but that's not the N62 V8 I have.

If that's it the barb you seeing is the fresh air side and not capped. The engine side is that rectangular tube below it in the picture.

They are also very cheap and notorious for the rubber baffle cracking and feeding oil back into the intake. If they are more than 4 years old I would just replace them.

And don't try and remove them to inspect, those tabs are extremely brittle.
