Simple process.

1) remove door panel
2) scuff up panel areas to be painted
3) clean panel thoroughly
4) tape / cover areas not to be painted
5) paint several layers with duplicolor vinyl and fabric paint ($5 a can)
6) let dry
7) re-install and enjoy

Door panel feels exactly the same and the color match with the OEM black upper portion of the panel is very close. Don't know yet about wear but if you believe what you read and see on youtube, expect the job to last about a year or two based on use. I drive the X5 maybe once a week so I'm guessing I'll get some longer use.
