I'm not sure if this procedure works for the e53...but there is an easier (approx 10 minute) procedure for the e38/e39 with the M60/M62/M62TU engine.


Go to YouTube and type the following phrase into the search box...this should pull up Edwin's video tutorial (Homerraas is his Dutch YouTube handle): Homerraas BMW PCV swap
