For several reasons...
You could have a bit of an issue getting the old one out of the hub, as this is a known problem, thus resulting in the need for a new one...
There is probably a reason BMW decided to go to the bigger bearing so early in the production run... The smaller one may have been more expensive and it was a financial reason for the change... BUT it may also have been a longevity issue...
And finally, it will probably be quicker... Not so much easier, but you won't need to deal with the bearing pull and replace part... As long as the salvage X had no damage in that area... and the bearing turned without vibration...
