So I am finally getting my E70 ready for towing. I've read countless threads about towing and what's required, but I just wanted to summarize and verify with the resident towing experts.

What I know for sure is required:
- Trailer Hitch Receiver: BMW Part No. 71600440592 (I decided to go with Curt Hitch #13077)
- Wiring Harness & Module: BMW Part No. 71602156526 (note you can buy the Trailer Hitch Receiver and Wiring Kit as a package with BMW Part No. 71602156525)
- Coding: Can this be done with the Carly adapter? Also, does someone have a list of exactly what needs to be coded to each module?

What I'm unsure about:
- Trailer Brakes: Is a trailer brake controller required? Will electronic trailer brakes work without a separate controller using the parts listed above? Heaviest thing I'll be towing is a car trailer and car for 20 miles or so.
