Hello,

I had the same issue with my 2008 X5 V8. The issue is your valve stem seals are gone and burning oil. It will get worse over the time. I have replaced mine for $3500 and issue is resolved. Don't waste your money for the oil additives or some other BS. Try to find a reputable BMW mechanic. Most of them tells you they need to drop the engine and transmission but it is possible without taking engine and tranny with a special tool.
