Resurrecting this thread from the dead. I have an '02 3.0 with 235k miles. It has all the symptoms of a blown coil. Got the code p1349 - misfire cylinder 4 with fuel cut off.

Replaced the ignition coil - nothing. Replaced the fuel pump relay - nothing. Fuel pump seemed to be ok.

Looked at the MAF - looked good, as it was replaced about a year ago.

Took out the idle control valve - so crudded up, it wouldn't move. Cleaned it out really good with carb cleaner, and put it back in. Also wiped up a lot of sludge off the DISA.

It sputtered at start up, and cut off. Gave it a minute, started again, and gave it some throttle. It sputtered a little, and then seemed ok.

I've driven about 100 miles since then, and it seems to be working ok now.

So, even though it's old, this thread helped me out.

I wanted to bring it back in case it'll help someone else.
