Rudy,

So sorry to hear about your problems. It sounds to me like you've got a lemon, unfortunately.

That being said, I think you're being too harsh. I am not a BMW apologist, but I fail to see why a company -- any company, but especially one with the reputation, recognition and cache as BMW -- would "knowingly perpetuate failures" in its own products.

Yeah, it's a cliche -- and a very trite one, at that -- but that IS indeed the price we pay. Like it or not. If 100% up-time and flawless reliability is what you want, I'd recommend a Lexus. That car will dutifully, reliably and BORINGLY take you from point A to point B every day. It will never break down on you. But it will never get you excited to drive it, either.

This is not to say that we should accept mediocrity. We should expect good quality and great customer service. I'd venture to say, though, that your experience is an exception, that most of us DO receive a quality product and great customer service. I have no complaints. My X has had a couple "hiccups," but nothing major; my Benz before this had the same amount of glitches; my wife's X3 is flawless!

Again, I understand your frustration; it does seem like you've had an unusual number of problem with your X. I don't know that I'd categorize BMW as harshly as you have.

Best of luck, and keep us updated. Good luck.

Juan
