2005 X5 4.4 fuel pump question

I bought the assembly but the float doesn't match the original oe (reads different value at the baseline) I recommend getting a pierburg pump only when replacing the Electric pump as long as your gauge is working properly. Much better quality.

You already did just that so as you suggested you might have a caught up float. You need to pull up test six and determine what's going on. The right side float is not likely to show more than a few liters even if it gets caught so most likely the left side would be the culprit.

You can pour in a few gallons to get car running if the gauge just reads wrong.
