1. At this mileage I'm thinking a little thicker oil (than 5-30) is in order. Thoughts? I plan on 10-40 winter and maybe 20-40 summer (I'm in a mild climate). Depends on what oil consumption pops up and if he makes any noises I don't like!

2. Stereo is OK, but what do you use to integrate your phones? or is it even possible? Mine does not have a phone dock. I had a Tune2Air from Bovee in my Benz, it worked well.

3. Trans, diffs and transfer case maintenance are unknown (former owner was a mechanic though) I'm thinking change them all. Red Line 75-90 for the diffs, BMW magic fluid for the transfer case and Dex 6 (?) for the trans.

4. Coding. I have both an iCarly and a Foxwell NT510 on the way. I have looked over the Carly site about coding but see some folks on here have "coded" items that are not listed or available to Carly. Where are these coming from and how are they coded?

5. I don't have (can't find) a fuse diagram and I want to disable the pano roof. Are there other users of this fuse or just the roof? What number is it and where is it?

In time I'm sure I will have other questions but these are the important ones at the moment. Any and all help is appreciated. TIA.
First of all, welcome to the family.

That is some amazing mileage. Be grateful you have the 3.0L, they seem to run forever. I can't give you qualified advice, I only have 163,000 miles on mine. I know a lot of the guys over on E46 Fanatics site swear buy Shell Rotella oil on the high mileage engines.

2. Stereo is OK, but what do you use to integrate your phones? or is it even possible? Mine does not have a phone dock. I had a Tune2Air from Bovee in my Benz, it worked well.

I have the Bovee 1000 Tune2Air A2DP running in my X5 now. You will need a Dice iPod adapter and depending on whether or not you have DSP you might need the DSP interface. The Bovee plugs right into the old 30 pin iPod connector.

3. Trans, diffs and transfer case maintenance are unknown (former owner was a mechanic though) I'm thinking change them all. Red Line 75-90 for the diffs, BMW magic fluid for the transfer case and Dex 6 (?) for the trans.

Ask the PO if he had ever serviced it and do it with those miles if he did not. You definitely have the GM gearbox so Dex 6 is the correct fluid. The diffs are a simple change and your choice of Redline 75/90 is fine. The transfer case oils changed on 2004 and later with X-Drive so I can not help you there but here is a decent link to read.

The Foxwell is a great tool but the Carly is fairly limited on the older generation BMW's. (E53, E46) There are several tools we all use here and Foxwell is one of them. We will also use BMW Tools (INPA, NCS Expert, etc.) and also BMW Scanner 1.4. They all have good features and some do things others can not. I personally use BMW Tools and BMW Scanner 1.4

5. I don't have (can't find) a fuse diagram and I want to disable the pano roof. Are there other users of this fuse or just the roof? What number is it and where is it?

Panoramic Sunroof fuse is 58 in the glove compartment. Another decent post with fuse layout in glove comartment.
