I just think the system that disconnects the front isn't working. The motor famously has a plastic gear that strips and the TC will no longer provide that function.. were it me, I would take that motor assembly off and see if it's broken or otherwise stuck in the front engaged position, then try to manually select disengaged, either by applying voltage or just turning the gear by hand that the motor does.
