On that note check your battery voltage it might be going bad.
On the oil, I always use LIQUI MOLY LEINCHTKAUF HIGH TECH 5-W40 on my X5 N62 engine and the X3 M54 engine. They seem to do the trick just fine, with a MAN filter.
