Might want to check out Continental Extreme Contacts. Good value. While not significant the sidewalls are not as stiff as some other options.

That was the set I had on my E39. for the X5 i am looking at getting 20 in rims.
9.5x20 et? 275/40/20
10.5x20 et? 315/35/20 basically stock oe size.
or
9.5x20 et? 285/40/20
11x20 et? 325/35/20 the bad thing about this on is that there is only one manufacture for the rears Pirelly P zeros.
