Yesterday, we had a blizzard here in So. Colorado, so nothing happened to the old girl. Today it got up to the high 30's, so had to "make hay"!
First, a trip to the DMV to get plates. Went pretty smoothly.
Drove it to the carwash carefully (sans the stiffener plate), ran it up on ramps, then cleaned the underside thoroughly from all the oil and gunk attached to everything. Stood up the stiffener plate and front splash guard and cleaned those with high pressure soapy water. Also blasted down the carpet mats. I trimmed the loose threads and glued down the heel pad on the driver's mat. Now that they're clean, I think I can live with these for a while at least.
The crankcase was full (dark, but full), so I drained out about a quart and replaced with a quart of Marvel Mystery oil. A guy on the e83 bimmerfest forum raved about it and for $3.88 at Walmart, I decided.... what the heck. I'll run it for a short while and then do a full oil change before long using Castrol Edge 0W-40.
I managed to get the remote control programmed to open my garage door. Took a few tries for some reason, but.... I won in the end.
Sanded and clear coated my headlights. Unfortunately, the lenses are somewhat fogged on the inside, so this is only going to be a temporary fix. Still, a big improvement from how the were.
Amazon just revised delivery of my Xenon bulbs, so she has to sit in the driveway another night naked and alone with no front bumper cover or headlights. Luckily, my neighbors just shake their heads in disbelief of my mechanical projects. Or, if bored, they wander over with two beers and hand me one while they watch what I'm doing. That's my fav!
Busy work day tomorrow, so probably won't accomplish anything.
AM.
