Soft close doors can also be dangerous if one does something mindless...or if you have small children.

There was an adult owner that sued BMW because he lost the tip (1st joint) of his finger when it got snapped off in a soft close door. The owners manual has a warning to not leave fingers etc in the path of the door. He exited his BMW and turned his back to the door with his hand/fingers holding on to the edge of the door.

So just a note to those that may have this feature now, or may get it in a future purchase...remember to stay cognizant & keep fingers/hands/other body parts clear of the closing path of the door...because once it starts to close...it will not reverse even if something is in its path. (perhaps BMW will change this in the future...but for now...it doesn't).
