Hey guys,

So my 2009 X5 3.0si is making a horrible grinding noise on cold start up only. It doesn't happen every cold start, but it is becoming more common.

I have been chasing down some engine codes - 2A87 and 2A82 and wonder if they may be related? So far as those engine codes are concerned, they vary from time to time and cleaning the Vanos solenoids made no difference so I have brand new ones on the way.

So, if anyone has got any idea of what the noise is I am keen to hear.
