Correct, there is a junction. Sanding all the clear sections would yield a slight improvement in output but still nothing compared to replacing the rings. If you have gotten far enough to access these rings... I do not recommend you try to keep them. Just replace them and call it a day. Though doing so does require work with the dremel. As does even opening the lights.



But... this makes it worth it every time you walk up to the truck (I have mine to fade on/off with the interior lights upon lock/unlock).
