So I swapped the gear today. Actually have pics this time.
Anyway, planned right, the factory gear can be turned 2 times for sure. 3 times if you lucky.
I also figured out how to open the gear case the easy way. On to the pics.
To flip the gear you don’t need to take much apart. This is what I did 7 years ago.
So once the actuator is off, you need to make a mark of the case and the white gear as the below. You must do this before you remove the motor.
Then you remove the motor. Once that is done, turn the white gear so that the mark is 180 degrees from the mark on the case. Put motor back in. You will see that the screw from the motor moves the white gear a little. Remove motor, and adjust the gear so that when motor pushes it, it moves to correct spot.
I am fully convinced that this gear can be used 3 times. So instead of flipping the gear, one can rotate it about 120 degrees.
So I used my gear twice. As you can see here. Both sides are shaved off.
I got one on Amazon for $11. It fit perfect.
Now opening up the case, I have seen people go at it different ways. Knife or some other shit to pry on it. Well, once you take off the motor from the body, you can take a flat head screw driver and insert it though the hole like so.
And it you will pry the opposite end. Push and wiggle the screw driver. You will see it peek a boo at the other end.
And for example without the case cover.
So once it comes out, just use a pick and go around the edge. It will pop out easy. The metal plate will be bent, so use some pliers to bend it straight before installing it back in. The bend will only be at the pry corner.
And this is what the gear looks like on the other 2 sides.
So yea. Maybe it’s possible to turn this gear 3 times, but 2 is safe for sure.
