What did you do to / for your E53 today??

This comes later but this is how I tighten the "Jesus bolt". A little math for the torque calculation and a scale to measure three force..

When I've done chain guides I've removed the oil distribution units and changed the check valves.

The procedure calls for replacing the six "rectorings" seals. When measuring them they had on the order of 0.1mm wear, they could possibly be reused but the hook that locks them together is extremely extremely fragile so be very careful removing them.

I refurbished the coolant pipes by turning them with a drill and green scrubbie. I painted the part outside the sealed zone to prevent outside corrosion from working it's way under the o-ring. I also used some RTV during assembly to seal between the parts outside the o-ring

Here's the next step with the oil distribution units removed. Totally worth the extra effort not difficult. There is a perfect step by step on German auto solutions I think.

I used a drill with a mini sandpaper holder and 3m scotch brite pad to clean all the seal surfaces
